Advantages And Disadvantages of Two Year MBA Course

Whenever there is a debate on One year MBA or Two Year MBA, we see it ends with no winner. There is a reason for it. MBA is a degree most of students aspire to get. They appear for different entrance exams and try to get into best Management school. MBA is the course which provides management education that is highly respected in the society as well as in education market.

Now let's see the Advantages and disadvantages of two-year courses.

Advantages:

• Longer the time spent on a subject, the better the understanding. A lot of presentations, tests like mid-terms and internals make the skills stronger.

• One gets a chance to work as an intern, where he/she understands the business world and their working style.

• Relaxed course ( as compared to one year course) doesn't give stress, which helps in overall development as it doesn't affect your health.

• Ample time to learn the course helps in better learning, implementation and improvement time for soft skills.

• Two year MBA Students get better placement assistance from their college and are valued more. There might be exceptions.

• If one is not sure about what specialization to take, he gets a year to decide and develop interest.

Disadvantages-

• If you are a working professional and needs a degree for enhancement of you career, spending two years will be a lot of time to stay away from your work life. It reduces two years of employment.

• At the end of two years life becomes very relaxed, which would have given you opportunity to study more or employment if the course would have ended earlier.

• Course content of management education can be covered in one year also hence sometimes spending two years is waste of time and money.

In my opinion, one should take up an MBA course by thinking over the purpose of studying the course. One should not take random decision based on others opinion as each one has different purpose and different conditions. Grasping power of every individual is different. Everyone has his own point of view. Every individual is different from other in terms of skills which need to be learnt or polished. If one needs time to decide for the specialization, wishes to learn without haste, wishes to spend more time on soft skills enhancement, want to take up an internship and has no problem in arranging finance to pay the fees should go for two year MBA course. After all one needs self understanding to take a decision about which course to take up.
